The Midwest Roofing Contractors Association (MRCA) Foundation has opened applications for its 2026 scholarship program, continuing its role in supporting education and career development across the roofing and construction industries. Designed for employees of member companies and their families, the program reflects a long-standing commitment to strengthening the industry through education and training opportunities.
The scholarship initiative is open to students pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees as well as the completion of certified trade programs. Eligibility extends to current college and trade school students and to high school seniors who have been provisionally accepted into an educational institution and plan to pursue a degree or trade certification. All applicants must meet a minimum academic standard of a 3.0 GPA or B average equivalent.
Applicants must also demonstrate their connection to an active member company of the Midwest Roofing Contractors Association, a requirement that guarantees the continuation of the program’s focus on investing directly in the industry’s workforce pipeline. Required materials include a completed application form, proof of member company affiliation, official transcripts and verification of provisional acceptance from an educational institution or trade program.
Letters of recommendation are another core component of the review process. Applicants must submit two recommendations from nonrelated individuals who are at least 18 years old. Only one letter may come from an MRCA director, and none may come from a director of the MRCA Foundation. Together these materials are intended to provide a well-rounded view of each candidate’s academic readiness character and commitment to their chosen path.
The application also requires a typed essay of no more than one page outlining the applicant’s interest in their field of study and the steps taken to pursue that goal including honors activities or employment experience. The foundation emphasizes that essays must be the applicant’s own work as the use of artificial intelligence will result in disqualification.
Scholarship recipients are selected by the MRCA Foundation Board of Directors based on academic performance, employment experience, financial need, recommendations and demonstrated motivation to pursue higher education. When candidates are otherwise equally ranked, financial need serves as the deciding factor. All applicants will be notified in writing, and awards will be sent directly to the designated school.
Completed applications and supporting materials must be postmarked or emailed by May 1, 2026.
