Turning roof inspection data into predictable revenue

Turning roof inspection data into predictable revenue

Consistent inspections, reliable data and the right technology can strengthen customer relationships while creating new opportunities for recurring revenue.

Roof inspections can do more than identify problems. When contractors build a consistent process around them, inspections can become the foundation for recurring service work, long-term customer relationships and more predictable revenue. During this CoatingsTalk, Megan Ellsworth spoke with Zach Carpenter of Jobba about how contractors can better collect, organize and use inspection data. Zach emphasized that recurring inspections are central to building a more dependable service model.

That approach depends heavily on consistency. Zach recommended using a cloud-based platform so teams can access the same information and present inspection findings in a uniform way. He also emphasized creating clear standard operating procedures (SOPs) for documenting, reviewing, delivering and following up on inspections.

Quality control remains critical even when technology helps streamline the process. Inspection reports, photos and other data should still be reviewed before reaching the customer, while consistent information can help contractors build credibility and make their data more useful internally. Demonstrating the importance of standardization, Zach cautioned, “You can't make data-driven decisions if everyone's collecting data their own way.”

Once reliable processes are in place, contractors can use inspection history to identify immediate repairs, monitor developing deficiencies and plan future maintenance or replacement needs. Carpenter also encouraged leadership teams to track conversion rates, revenue per inspection and repeat business to better understand how inspection activity connects to financial performance.

Technology can support that process through inspection software, artificial intelligence, drones and other tools, but Zach stressed that companies do not need to overhaul everything at once. Auditing the current process, educating the team and making incremental improvements can create momentum. Pointing to the broader opportunity for contractors, Zach concluded, “Inspections can be a catalyst for your business.”
