Creative design, sustainable performance

By Dani Sheehan.

Year after year, construction professionals trust SOPREMA’s expert knowledge and products to bring their most ambitious projects to life.

The PGA of America’s headquarters in Frisco, Texas, is more than just an administrative building. It’s a state-of-the-art facility designed to feel like home for PGA members, associates and staff. It features an education center with cutting-edge coaching facilities, both standard and simulated hitting bays and an indoor short game practice area. You’ll even find innovative features like a practice green with motion-capture sensors and RFID technology for personalized greetings when members walk through the main entrance. Expertly designed to illuminate spaces with natural sunlight, this building bridges the built environment with the open green.

Contractor Ramon Franklin chose SOPREMA products and technologies for the project. SOPREMA was selected for its unparalleled technical support and proven track record of delivering high-quality results on high-profile projects. The roofing solution featured SOPREMA’s SBS-modified bitumen membrane system, with the SOPRALENE® FLAM 180 FR GR cap sheet. This product, with its highly reflective white granules, was integral in helping achieve the building’s sustainability goals. The reflectivity of the membrane helps mitigate the urban heat island effect and reduce energy consumption, a key factor in the building receiving LEED silver certification. The torch-applied membrane provides a sleek, polished appearance that rivals any TPO or PVC roofing product.

Sustainability at the forefront

Chosen for its energy efficiency, the SOPRALENE FLAM 180 FR GR cap sheet is composed of a proprietary elastomeric styrene-butadiene-styrene polymer modified bitumen and reinforced with dimensionally stable non-woven polyester mat, further offering superior performance and longevity. The roofing system played a significant role in the building’s commitment to sustainability and harmonizes the facility with its surroundings.

Read more about SOPREMA’s unmatched support and direction that delivered a stunning and sustainable second home for PGA members, staff and associates.
