What are the best weatherproofing strategies for exposed fasteners?

Opt for fasteners made from materials that are inherently resistant to corrosion, such as stainless steel, aluminum, or other corrosion-resistant alloys.

According to AEP Span:

We recommend purchasing your fasteners from the manufacturer. In addition, we recommend using fasteners with a neoprene washer. It is always recommended to ensure fasteners are attached as per the manufacturer’s guidance. Over or under tightened fasteners can be a source of water infiltration.
