We never used I & W here in the sunshine state excep in the norther region if the month was January and the temp got below 25 degrees we never had ie dams but we sure had a lot of rain, the secret was to seal off all metal terminations and penetrations it worked for decades oops dont orget the mastic inbetween the laps of the eave drip, rake and valley.

OLE Willie

There were some guys on another site complaining about how difficult it is to tear off shingles that were nailed over ice and water shield that was stuck to bare wood.

They say it is supposed to be done that way but i don't see why the felt can't be laid and then stick I/W to the felt.

Or at least if you have to stick it to bare wood then don't complain because it wont come back off without taking up wood and all!

I just thought I'd throw in a pic showing my underlay while working on some slate.

Here'a another pic of some other work from the Netherlands. I like and use the same underlay myself. :)

The picture come from the albums of these fellows. http://users.telenet.be/NATUURLEIEN/

Enjoy! :)
