I've always heard it's aggravating working with them, but I've generally had good luck.

Recently, I went to finish a roof started by others a few years ago. The owner is an engineer and we needed to tie in the old and new at a gable wall, and hip. :)

Against the wall, it was all fiberboard and it had no backing for dressing the vertical seams. I told him I'd bring some thin steel or something to be my dolly. :(

He had a few questions about what I needed and when I came back the next day he handed me a 'Tinner's Dolly' he made overnight.

I call it a 'Tinner's Spoon' because it has many uses. Bucking at hips, transitions where there is a void in the wood, or whatever. He gave it to me to keep. 1/16" stainless, about 4" x 8". :)

BTW, he was great to work with too! :)
