Mental health
The construction industry has the second-highest suicide rate of all major industries in the U.S. To support your mental health awareness efforts, NRCA offers several resources:
- Access to Perspectives, an employee assistance program that provides counseling and resources for life issues
- Hard hat stickers that provide a visual reminder for your crews
- A suicide prevention fact sheet that encourages early identification of mental health concerns and fosters a culture of support

If you have skilled installers ready to represent the U.S. on the world stage, complete the application for the qualifying competition by Nov. 20. Applicants will be notified by Dec. 11, so they can make travel arrangements to IRE.

Dignity Act: The Dignity Act (H.R. 4393), backed by the NRCA, pairs stronger border security with immigration reforms to address severe workforce shortages in industries like roofing. It provides long-term undocumented individuals a path to lawful status through work, service or education, while expanding training for U.S. workers. With labor shortages costing billions annually, the NRCA emphasizes that immigration reform is vital to sustaining the roofing workforce and urges contractors to stay engaged, advocate and ensure compliance.

Workforce and immigration
As an NRCA member, you gain more than just access to industry-leading resources—you become part of a thriving community of professionals dedicated to advancing the roofing industry. Some of these workforce, immigration and training resources include:
- NRCA Pro-Certification: Rather than passing an online exam for each type of roof system, installer applicants now only need to pass NRCA’s low-slope or steep-slope online knowledge exam, which can be taken anywhere, any time, as many times as needed. Once installers pass the online exam, they are eligible to take the hands-on performance exam. NRCA provides the resources installers need to help them on their paths to NRCA ProCertification, and all content is available in English and Spanish.
- Training for roof application careers: NRCA developed Training for Roof Application Careers to help you address challenging workforce issues. With new reduced pricing, every roofing company can afford to use TRAC to train their new and inexperienced workers with quality educational materials.
- Workforce recruitment tools and resources: Take advantage of these members-only resources to recruit, onboard and train your employees. NRCA’s Careersinroofing.com is geared toward potential workers and provides training, job descriptions, wage information and other career development information. Use its online job bank to find prospective employees for a wide variety of roofing positions—free—as a benefit of NRCA membership.
