Meet the siding that brings the benefits of metal with the beauty of traditional board and batten.

If you’ve watched any home renovation show in the 2010s, you saw the rise of the modern farmhouse firsthand. If you weren’t watching HGTV or DIY Network, these homes often featured large, open floorplans with a healthy amount of shiplap feature walls. And it didn’t stop with the interior of the home, many people looked to siding to continue the cozy, rustic but still clean aesthetic on the exterior of a home. One popular option to achieve this exterior look is board and batten. Board and batten features flat boards installed with narrower strips (the battens mentioned in the name) that cover the seams between the boards. This creates interesting dimension on the side of a home and gives it that timeless, rustic charm.

Traditionally, board and batten siding was made of wood. However, modern technology and innovations have made it possible to create board and batten out of metal that still look aesthetically pleasing but are more durable than their wooden counterparts. A great example of this is Central States’ Board & Batten. This siding profile is a contemporary and durable option that offers a lifetime of beauty at a competitive price. Central States’ Board & Batten comes in a large selection of colors that mimic the look of wood siding. There are even custom colors to ensure that whatever aesthetic is desired, can be achieved.

Structurally, metal board and batten is engineered very similarly to traditional wood, with alternating wide metal panels with metal battens covering seams. The Central States’ Board & Batten features a hidden fastener to ensure a clean finish. One of the big benefits of using metal rather than wood is the simplification of the maintenance process. So, not only will this metal board and batten last longer than the traditional, perishable wooden siding, it will be easy to take care of during that time! The cherry on top? The steel in Central States’ Board & Batten is made up of 80% recycled content, making it not just the aesthetic and functional choice, but the sustainable one!

Explore Central States’ new board and batten that offers the beauty of wood with the benefits of metal!
