Transforming training: Tremco University

Training is crucial in any field, but especially in areas like roofing and construction where new technology and products are getting developed every day. In this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Karen Edwards spoke to Tom Biller and Sarah Fay to learn about Tremco’s cutting-edge training platform — Tremco University.  

Tremco University is a powerful training program designed for all members of the industry, whether you are an architect, contractor, distributor, manager or in some other construction role, there are classes and programs that will help you develop your professional expertise. Part of the reason Tremco University is relevant to so many professionals is their holistic approach. Sarah explained, “It's really all about teaching the science and the techniques behind creating a seamless protective shell for a structure on a whole. So looking at critical topics like energy efficiency, moisture control and structural integrity.” By training people based on the whole building envelope, rather than specific products or techniques, professionals going through Tremco University are truly equipped to design high-performance buildings that are durable and long-lasting.  

Currently, Tremco University offers both in-person and online training options! This means that wherever you are, you can grow your skillset and expand your understanding of the building envelope. In the future, Tremco hopes to expand the training even further. Sarah shared her thoughts, saying, “I see the opportunities as endless. I think future training programs for the building envelope specialists are going to continue to evolve in exciting ways.” One example of an evolution that will help training programs like this is the use of augmented reality. Tom explained, “Augmented reality is going to be an important part of helping professionals understand in a deeper way how elements come together and are used in building envelope application... It will allow for more in-depth training that’s going to be a definite key to the adoption of new and innovative solutions.”
