Telling the story that builds trust

Telling the story that builds trust
March 15, 2026 at 9:00 p.m.

By Jenny Yu.

Bone Dry Roofing’s Matt Tyner explains how leadership and teamwork drive success.

In a recent episode of Stories from the Roof, Megan Ellsworth sat down with Matt Tyner of Bone Dry Roofing to discuss Matt’s journey into the roofing industry and the lessons he’s learned along the way.

After 15 years in home services space, specifically HVAC and plumbing marketing, Matt took his skills to the roofing space. “Marketing is my passion,” he expressed. “When it comes to roofing, a home is a home is a home, right? And a customer is a customer, so it's all about building trust.”

For the past two years in roofing, Matt has developed a love for the roofing industry and his team at Bone Dry Roofing. Everyone from the leadership team to those with boots on the ground has made the transition seamless, ready to answer questions and offer support. “It's really a team effort here,” Matt shared. “When I came in, I knew nothing about roofing; absolutely nothing. No matter who I go to with a question, whether it's trade specific or not, they've been extremely helpful.”

This support allows Matt and his marketing team to paint a picture of Bone Dry Roofing that is both accurate and authentic. “When you're telling the story, being able to talk a little bit of trade talk helps from a marketing perspective. It's important,” Matt said.

Matt also spoke to how Bone Dry Roofing’s founder, Gene Judd, has been essential in establishing a family culture in the company he started out of his garage in Indianapolis, Indiana. “There are many people within this company that have been here for a very long time. And it's because they trust Gene,” Matt stated. That same trust, he noted, is the key to telling the company’s story in marketing campaigns. “Our main job is building that trust with the consumers so that ultimately, when they have a problem, they know the company to trust to take care of their home.”
