Submit Your Outstanding Roofing Job Before It’s Too Late!

CRA Job of the Year
January 12, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.

By Colin Sheehan, RCS Reporter.

Does someone you know have any exceptional projects to share with the roofing community?

The deadline to submit for the Colorado Roofing Association’s (CRA) annual Job of the Year award has been extended to January 15, so submit now! Judging will take place on January 22 and the winners will be announced on February 18, 2021.

Sadly, the live dinner award celebration has been canceled. Instead, the formal awards presentation will take place during the 2022 CRA Live Event which will showcase both the 2020 and 2021 Job of the Year Awards.

The Job of the Year awards are given to roofing contractors who exemplify professionalism in their work. These awards recognize some of the outstanding work done by roofing contractors across the U.S. Nominated projects must have been worked on and completed between December of 2019 and November of 2020.

Application tips

The CRA has provided a document full of submission tips, a few are highlighted here:

  • Stick to the maximum page limit. The page limit ensures judges will have enough time to go through each submission with attentiveness. Photos do not count towards the total page length, and if you embed photos into your project you may go over the page limit to compensate.

  • Be truthful. This may seem obvious, but make sure you don’t lie in your application. If you are caught being untruthful you will be disqualified from the competition. This could also damage your reputation and cause a potential PR disaster.

  • Tell a story. Make your entry stand out from the crowd by utilizing storytelling techniques that will capture the judge’s attention. Through the use of narrative techniques, you can create an emotional response in readers and establish meaningful connections through the written word.

  • Involve your staff and co-workers. A large project most likely involved several people. Ask your co-workers, or others involved in the project, to help you collect evidence, examples, testimonials or any other helpful additions to your application.

  • Be organized. Make sure your application is well organized, clearly written and easy to navigate. It isn’t enough to only include project images and details, you must also articulate why you or the nominee should win the award.
