Selling synthetic savings

DaVinci - Selling synthetic savings
November 4, 2025 at 3:00 p.m.

By DaVinci Roofscapes.

Here’s a switch. Instead of your roof costing you money each year, it can actually save you money.

With costs going up, wouldn’t it be great if you could bring your customer good news of long-term savings connected with their roofing project? You can. Just do some easy research in your area as to how much savings homeowners are getting on their yearly insurance bills when they invest in synthetic roofing.

In Kansas, after Roofing Force installed a DaVinci Single-Width Slate roof on the home of Barbara and Jim, they earned a 43% savings on their yearly homeowner’s insurance.

How did that happen? First when it was time for their annual renewal, their insurance company pushed forward a whopping 43% increase in their rates. However, when Jim called them, they immediately rescinded the increase due to DaVinci roof’s resilient Class A fire and Class 4 impact rating.

“That’s effectively a 43% savings on our homeowner’s insurance based solely on the installation of the DaVinci composite roofing,” says Jim. "Imagine if we had not had the new DaVinci composite roof put on, our insurance would have almost doubled. Now we have all the long-term investment benefits of a composite roof that adds to the value of our home plus low maintenance, a strong warranty, good aesthetics and to top it all off, really strong insurance savings!”

Saving 50% on Insurance

Jim’s was not an isolated experience. In Minnesota, Classic Construction & Consulting replaced a cedar roof on a home that was destroyed in a hailstorm. The homeowners never wanted to deal with that type of situation again, so they again chose a synthetic roof from DaVinci Roofscapes.

The DaVinci Multi-Width Shake installed on the home can handle harsh weather easier than the original cedar shakes.  After the installation, the homeowner contacted his insurance company, Farm Bureau. They had big news for him. His homeowner’s insurance decreased by 50%.

Now, in addition to having a beautiful roof that has completely transformed his home, the family has incredible savings that will help pay for that roof over time.

Sales game plan

These are just two examples of insurance rates that are dropping lower than we’ve ever seen before in the marketplace. This type of “return on investment” is a great selling tool when proposing a synthetic slate or shake roof to your customers.

Go ahead. Call some insurance companies in your area. Ask for quotes on homes with real cedar shakes versus asphalt roofing versus DaVinci composite roofing. Then use the impressive findings during your sales presentations. Show your customers how investing in a composite roof brings not just year-after-year beauty to their home, but also yearly insurance savings.

Look who's saving

From coast-to-coast people nationwide are discovering that by investing in composite roofing, their insurance companies are providing them with homeowners insurance policy discounts worth thousands of dollars every year. That’s because composite slate and shake roofing, like that manufactured by DaVinci Roofscapes, is made to the highest industry ratings for fire and impact resistancy.

Ultimately, while a composite roof may cost more than some other roofing materials, there’s a higher return on investment. First of all, a DaVinci roof has a Lifetime Limited Material Warranty, so it’s likely to be the last roof you ever put on a home. Second, those high ratings mean a great deal when it comes to protecting a home from severe weather.

This means that many insurance companies know they won’t have to pay out to have a new roof replaced on a home when a hailstorm or severe weather hits the area. Instead, the homeowner keeps the same impact-resistant roof overhead, and they keep costs down. This saves everyone money… and headaches.

Here are some of the stories of homeownesr seeing the “big picture” when making the investment in a composite roof.

  • “Our State Farm® insurance company committed to giving us a minimum of 20% discount on our yearly premiums if we use the composite shakes,” says Debbie Watley, a homeowner in Harrisburg, South Dakota. “That’s because the DaVinci composite shake roofing tiles are rated Class A fire and Class 4 impact resistant. Those cost savings really make a difference!”
  • When Omaha resident Kathryn Koslosky got a new DaVinci Slate roof, Fireman’s Fund® reduced her family’s homeowner’s insurance premium by 20%.
  • In Texas, a new Province Slate roof on the home of Sharon Kari’s home is saving her $2,000 each year on her Allstate® policy.
  • $500 a year is the savings being pocketed by Illinois homeowner Kenneth Franzese. Once he switched to Select Shake, his insurance company immediately lowered his premiums.
  • In Kansas City, David Shinn switched to DaVinci Single-Width Shake roofing in 2014 and immediately started saving $1,000 a year from Farmers® Insurance Exchange on insurance premiums. That’s more than $10,000 he’s saved since adding his new composite roof!
  • Mark Walz, Chairman, President and CEO of Farmers® Mutual of Nebraska, invested in DaVinci slate roofing for his home after a hailstorm in 2020. Now he’s getting 20% off his yearly insurance premium.

These are just a few examples of homeowners who experienced the pains of having to replace a roof with storm damage… and then the rewards of investing in DaVinci composite roofing.
