Tests Show that Sashco’s Through the Roof!® sealant Lasts 20 Times Longer

The sealant products were exposed to the equivalent of six months of UV exposure during the testing and is shown to last 20 times longer than roof asphalt and roof cement.

Through the Roof! is a clear, waterproof roof repair sealant that was tested alongside two popular asphalt-based sealants in accordance with ASTM C793-05 – Laboratory Accelerated Weather on Elastomeric Joint Sealants and ASTM C1442-03 – Standard Practice for Conducting Tests on Sealants Using Artificial Weathering Apparatus.  The sealants were applied to 3”x 6” aluminum panels and exposed to the equivalent of 2,000 hours of intense UV exposure – equivalent to what an average roof is exposed to during the hottest months from April to September.

Before the exposure began the products were in place and performing as designed.  After just 100 hours of exposure – equivalent to 14 days – the roof cement began cracking. At the 2,000 hour point, Through the Roof! remained intact while the other products had broken apart, cracked and separated.
