In this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Kevin Morris, co-founder of TUBOS, discusses the impact of his company’s prefabricated vent pipe extensions. Speaking with host Karen Edwards, Kevin explores how TUBOS is transforming the roofing industry by addressing inefficiencies in vent pipe installation.

Traditionally, roofers faced a cumbersome process when extending vent pipes. As Kevin explains, the old method required makeshift solutions that lacked consistency and efficiency. “ We rolled steel, it acted like an insert. You put that down in the existing pipe and then you’d have to get PVC from the hardware store, then put it over, notch it, put it over top of that, which was pretty time-consuming,” Kevin recalls. “There are other methods too like the no-hub coupling, which we didn’t like because if you didn’t torque it down accordingly, it would leak.” With TUBOS, the process is significantly simplified, eliminating the need for additional materials and ensuring a secure, reliable installation in a fraction of the time.

Beyond efficiency, TUBOS offers versatility across different roofing systems and climates. Available in multiple sizes — including two-inch, three-inch, four-inch and five-inch diameters — the product meets varying contractor needs. Kevin notes, “We have had some requests for an inch and a half. And if you hear this and you do need that size, that or a six-inch, as long as we have the demand, we can manufacture it.”

Durability has also been a key factor in TUBOS’ success. Manufactured from heavy-duty PVC, the extensions are UV-protected and built to last. According to Kevin, TUBOS has had “zero warranty claims” in its 16-year history, a rare feat in the roofing industry. The unique double-sided design also allows for customized height adjustments, making it adaptable for projects with varied elevation requirements.

The widespread adoption of TUBOS is evident, with the product now available through major distributors, online retailers and even Amazon. While its primary market remains the United States, demand has reached as far as Canada and South America. However, Kevin states that the company is focusing on expanding its U.S. presence before pursuing further international growth. He shares, “We have a lot of market share left in the United States and that’s our main focus.”
