Re-roofing before the next hurricane

After enduring two hurricanes, Chalmette Mall in Louisiana needed a new roof to prepare for yet another storm: Hurricane Francine. They turned to Prime Texas Metal Roofs and IKO Industries to ensure the two-and-a-half-month commercial re-roofing project was a success.  

“It’s going to be a slow process with the rain that we’re taking on,” Alberto Alaniz, owner of Prime Texas Metal, said in this video profile of the project. “We’re about to experience a hurricane, and we secured all the material. We tied everything down.” 

In addition to preparing for another storm, the job was a 170,000-square-foot complete re-roof, from tearing off the previous concrete to replacing the decking with a 22-gauge B-Deck. To meet these demanding weather and project needs, Alberto’s team used IKOTherm™ Insulation, IKO Innovi™ TPO and InnoviWeld™ TPO Induction Plate. They were pleased with the service and partnership IKO provided.

After having some parts of the roof previously patched up, the owner of the shopping mall was ready for a full reroof. With IKO’s products and services, Alberto and his team were able to deliver and provide a 20-year limited warranty. 

“This project is for a very important client of mine,” Alberto shared. “I was looking for a manufacturer that stood behind their name that I could present to my client and build this long-lasting relationship that I’m trying to do with everyone I work with.”
