Meet Stephanie Barry – Answer Me This! Winner

Our most recent winner, Stephanie Barry, is the project administrator at Kalkreuth Roofing & Sheet Metal, one of the  leading roofing contractors in the country. We recently spoke with her about her experience in the roofing industry and her answer to our Answer Me This! question: How do you prefer to buy metal roofing? 

“I joined Kalkreuth in 2018 after working with a mechanical contractor since 2014,” says Stephanie, telling us about how she came into roofing. “I really enjoy the construction industry.” 

Stephanie does a little bit of everything as a project administrator. From ordering materials, to budget reviews, to closing out projects, Stephanie is on it! “I provide overall daily support to the project managers. When an order needs placed, I will generate and submit the purchase order. When we get a new project, the admins review and process the contract, documenting key information for quick access for the project managers and other team members,” says Stephanie. “[We do] a little bit of everything to help ensure the projects run smooth, especially since the project managers are pulled in multiple directions daily.” 

When answering our contest question, Stephanie says she prefers to go through the manufacturer or wholesale. “I personally like dealing directly instead of having a middle person,” says Stephanie. “It really depends on the product, but I do like dealing directly with the person I'm ordering from." 

In addition to her work with Kalkreuth, Stephanie helped to start the National Women in Roofing Council of West Virginia. Stephanie's advice to any women looking to join the industry is to continue to push forward! “Don't let anybody tell you what you can and can’t achieve,” she says. She also suggests looking to organizations like National Women in Roofing that can lend you that support and mentoring.  

On that note, Stephanie is a strong supporter of roofing education across the board. “I get the RCS emails and read through them all,” says Stephanie. “I enjoy the different material you guys have out there and having a space to learn what's going on in the industry with trends everyone is seeing and what's upcoming.”
