Major Moves for Malarkey Roofing Products

RoofersCoffeeShop® speaks with Malarkey Roofing Products about their recent acquisition by Holcim. 

At the Western States Roofing Contractor Association (WSRCA)’s 2022 Western Roofing Expo, our COO Karen Edwards spoke with West Regional Manager John Rabung and Marketing Event Manager Rachel Garcia from Malarkey Roofing Products. There, the three discussed Malarkey’s recent acquisition by Holcim and how it has affected their company overall. 

Holcim is a Switzerland-based company that is a global leader in sustainable building solutions. With Holcim’s desire to branch out into North America and Malarkey wanting to go global with their brand, this new business deal benefits both companies. 

“We're going to remain Malarkey, we're going to remain with our branding, remain with our sales staff, remain with our production, our marketing, and remain standalone,” John says. “But we’ll also have the benefits of having an ownership like Holcim, who by the way, is absolutely looking for growth from us.” 

Malarkey Roofing products is known for their high-performing roofing products which are as high quality as they are sustainable. All of their shingles are made with NEX® polymer modified (rubberized) asphalt and smog-reducing granules.  

“That was really the motivating factor for Holcim to buy Malarkey was our sustainability position, our sustainability story, how we've threaded sustainability into, not only our products, but our manufacturing processes as well,” John says. 

Overall, although they are still in the early stages of this acquisition, Malarkey Roofing Products has high hopes for their future company endeavors. They say that over the next year, they will continue to work on creating sustainable products through sustainable manufacturing processes.
