LP Building Outstanding Manufacturing MFPC
February 23, 2023 at 9:00 a.m.

LP recognized for its commitment to manufacturing excellence demonstrated by its investment in the LP Houlton mill to transition its production to LP® SmartSide® Trim & Siding.

At its 62nd Annual Meeting in September, the Maine Forest Products Council (MFPC) presented LP Building Solutions with the Council’s Outstanding Manufacturing Award.

The award, presented by MFPC President Ryan McAvoy, recognized LP’s commitment to manufacturing excellence, and southern Aroostook County, as demonstrated by its investment in the LP Houlton mill to transition its production to LP® SmartSide® Trim & Siding.

LP Houlton Plant Manager Nathan Whitney accepted the award on behalf of LP. It marks the first time LP has won the MFPC’s Outstanding Manufacturers Award.

“It was an honor to accept [the award] on behalf of all the employees here at [LP] Houlton, and it was a testament to LP’s commitment to Northern Maine,” Whitney said. “It will be proudly displayed here at the [LP Houlton] mill for all to enjoy.”

The MFPC has acted as the voice of Maine’s forest economy since 1962, and it represents the diverse needs of Maine’s forest products community. The MFPC serves the community by gathering information, connecting groups to discuss concerns, having events, leading tours, and helping people find common ground. Members of the MFPC include landowners, loggers, truckers and more, and it represents anyone who has an interest in seeing the Maine woods remain a viable, sustainable resource.
