Listen to the Latest Episodes of NRCA's Inspiring Podcast Series

NRCA Inspiring podcast
August 10, 2022 at 12:00 p.m.

The purpose of the podcast is to elevate the roofing industry by sharing important lessons to be learned and stories of which the industry can be proud.

The National Roofing Contractors Association has released the 21st and 22nd episodes from its podcast series, “Stories of an Extraordinary Industry.”

Sponsored by ABC Supply Co. Inc., Beloit, Wisconsin, both episodes will inspire listeners with intriguing stories from the past. In “Building Back Trust,” Brian Whelan, former executive vice president for Sika Sarnafil USA, Canton, Massachusetts, shares his experience tackling a concerning problem with PVC roof systems in the 1970s. This type of roof system was shattering only a few years after installation, and Whelan and his team were determined to figure out why, reformulate the product and help stage a comeback for this vital roofing option.

In “Road to Leadership,” NRCA Chairman of the Board, Kyle Thomas, discusses how he came to serve the roofing industry. Born into a family of roofing professionals in Alabama, Thomas had no intention of joining the industry after college. But one special young lady — Emily, his future wife — inspired him to return to his roofing roots. A return to roofing also meant involvement with NRCA, and Thomas completed NRCA University’s Future Executives Institute and served on several committees before joining the board of directors that he now leads with passion and determination.

Podcast episodes are available at roofingstories.podbean.com; on NRCA’s website at nrca.net/news-events/podcast; or wherever you get your podcasts, including Apple, Google, iHeartRadio, Spotify and Stitcher.
