Introducing Leister’s Vaccuum Plate 100-LP

Leister - Introducing Leister’s Vaccuum Plate 100-LP

Learn how this compact tool is revolutionizing membrane leak detection.

Recently, The Coffee Shops™ crew got the chance to explore the Midwest Roofing Contractors Association (MRCA)’s show in St. Paul, Minnesota. While there, the trade show floor was full of exciting new technology to learn about! One such product was Leister’s Vacuum Plate 100-LP! Heidi J. Ellsworth stopped by their booth to interview Brittany Weichel about the release of the product and what it does.

The Vaccuum Plate 100-LP is a battery-operated leak detection tool that has a seven-hour run time. Weighing only 2kg, this compact product also incorporates a maintenance-free, brushless fan that keeps it quiet and easy to use. Specially developed for testing weld work of roofs and swimming pools, the low negative pressure of the tool virtually eliminates damage to thin membranes. Brittany explained a bit of how it works, sharing, “If you're looking for holes in the membrane openings and seams, you can use it to double check your work after you do a patch or after you do a core sample.” This is also great for checking an area that you have been called out to repair or examining a seam as a manufacturer rep.

In order to use the Vaccuum Plate 100-LP, all you have to do is spray the area you want to check with soapy water (it can even just be dish soap and water), put the place over the area, hit power and wait. Brittany elaborated, “Once you put a little bit of pressure on the edge, you’re looking for if it bubbles up. If we have bubbles occurring here, we have troubles. So that gives us a place where we can come back and patch it.” This saves contractors both time and energy on the roof and saves building owners money.

You can watch the entire interview to learn more about the Vaccuum Plate 100-LP and hear more about Leister’s other innovative products, like their VARIMAT line!
