How Quarrix helps their contractors stand out

How Quarrix helps their contractors stand out

Quarrix not only creates innovative solutions that level up the ventilation game, but also helps contractors play the sales game better.

If you haven’t checked out Quarrix Building ProductsYouTube channel, you’re missing out. From providing installation tips to giving advice on “selling beyond the shingles,” there is a wealth of knowledge on their channel. Here at The Coffee Shops™, one of our favorite videos on their channel is their StormStop Smokehouse Demo. This video showcases how the “StormStop® ridge vent provides superior protection that stops snow, rain, sand and bugs from entering the attic.” It is able to do this because of their patented weather-blocker membrane that allows for the simultaneous repelling of water and the releasing of interior air and moisture. While at The Coffee Shops for an episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Mark Huysken of Quarrix shared a bit more about this video and the technology displayed in it.

When most people think of ridge vents, they often picture something with a vent grate and visible gap. However, with the unique membrane that StormStop uses, it does not look like the average ridge vent on the market. This leads to many people misunderstanding or not realizing its breathability. That’s where the development of the smokehouse comes into the picture. Mark explained, “What we're trying to show with the smokehouse is that the product can breathe. It's engineered that 71% of airflow goes through it and the smokehouse allows people to see that the membrane does work.”

And this display of how the StormStop works is not only helpful to Quarrix when they’re introducing contractors to the product, it can also help contractors talk to homeowners. Mark elaborated, “Doing ventilation right often costs more, which can be hard to explain to a homeowner. A lot of times they'll look at their home and they'll go, it's been fine. I haven't had issues.” But what homeowners often don’t realize is that when you are working on these types of projects, you have to account for the changes to the roof deck, the building envelope and the general system. That means that the ventilation needs of the space are changing. And it doesn’t help that air movement is not something your clients can see, making it harder to conceptualize. That’s where Quarrix’s StormStop demo can help contractors. Mark explained, “You can't see the air movement, but when you pump that smoke in and then bring in the fresh air behind the smoke, that's when it shows. This is a great way to show the homeowner what a balanced system is and a great for the contractor to differentiate themselves from the next guy.”
