AEP Span is updating its product line to align with evolving architectural preferences while maintaining supply consistency, announcing upcoming changes to its standard color lineup.
Effective May 1, 2026, three existing colors — Sage Green, Pebble and Silversmith — will be removed from standard inventory in both 24-gauge and 22-gauge products. While these colors will remain available, they will transition to non-standard status, requiring minimum order quantities of 1,500 lineal feet and longer lead times.
The company emphasized that May 1 marks the final day contractors and specifiers can place standard stock orders for these colors. Orders submitted after that date will be processed under special order terms, which may impact project timelines and planning.
At the same time, AEP Span is introducing two new additions: Natural Matte PVDF Carbon and Shale. These colors are designed to reflect current design trends, offering a low-gloss finish that reduces glare and delivers a consistent appearance across installed panels. The Natural Matte system also provides durability, weather resistance and long-term color retention, supporting both aesthetic and performance demands.
Carbon and Shale will be available in 24-gauge and 22-gauge materials with a ZINCALUME substrate and will be offered across all architectural profiles manufactured in Tacoma, Washington. Additional lead times and costs may apply for commercial profiles produced in West Sacramento, California.
For contractors, architects and project managers, the transition highlights the importance of early planning and specification review. Projects currently designed with Sage Green, Pebble or Silversmith may require immediate action to secure standard inventory or adjustments to accommodate non-standard ordering requirements.
AEP Span representatives are available to assist with evaluating project timelines, exploring alternative color options and ensuring a smooth transition as the updated palette rolls out.
