Allied Building Products Helps after Theft of Tools

The Habitat for Humanity trailer full of tools had been broken into and looted at the jobsite.

Salem County, New Jersey Habitat for Humanity volunteers arrived at their worksite on Monday, July 31 to find the lock on their trailer had been cut off. Project manager Bill Nelson told SNJ Today, “When I saw the lock on the ground cut, that’s when I put two and two together and realized that everything was cleared out.”

The trailer held thousands of dollars worth of tools which had been recently purchased with the help of generous charitable donations. Having the tools meant volunteers didn’t have to wait around, waiting for a tool to become available.

John Rowe, one of the partner families that would be moving into the home said that he was just shocked over the theft. "Why would you do that to somebody who comes and volunteers to help people like us out?” he questioned.

Officials of the non-profit posted photos of the trailer and cut lock on their social media outlets and the community stepped up to help. On Tuesday, August 15, Allied Building Products announced that its Burlington, NJ location would donate $3,500 worth of tools and supplies to help Habitat for Humanity get construction back on track. Representatives for Allied Building products said that the company is just its part to help an organization that helps so many in the community.
