20 years, thousands of roofs and one initiative: Performance matters

20 years, thousands of roofs and one initiative: Performance matters

From Product to Partnership: The Evolution of Roof Performance

Contractors today aren't just selling roofs, they're selling performance. Homeowners want solutions that improve efficiency, protect their investment and deliver lasting value. That's a very different conversation than the one many contractors were having 20 years ago. As the industry has evolved, ventilation has emerged as one of the most important parts of a high-performing roof system. In a recent episode of Roofing Road Trips, Megan Ellsworth sat down with John Theede, Florida regional manager from Attic Breeze, and Cody Rhea, owner of FIXD Roofing, to discuss how the changes in roofing have impacted contractors. For Attic Breeze, 20 years in business isn't just a milestone; it's a reflection of how the roofing industry itself has changed and why ventilation continues to matter.

Today's homeowners are more educated and often ask about ventilation, energy efficiency and long-term performance. Contractors who address the complete roofing system are better positioned to earn trust and win projects. On the other hand, neglecting to address the entire roofing system can lead to misunderstandings. “You present an entire roof system and you totally leave out ventilation, you could get set back on your heels by an educated customer,” says Cody.

In addition to being more educated on roofing systems in general, homeowners are also more aware of the impact product performance can have on the entire home. A contractor can protect their profitability by offering products that outperform their peers, such as solar powered ventilation. According to John, homeowners are starting to view ventilation as an investment. “Instead of an expense, it pays them back every single month by saving on their energy bill,” he says. In a higher-cost market, contractors need products that reduce callbacks and deliver real results. Proper ventilation can help improve energy efficiency and support long-term roof performance.

Attic Breeze's longevity is rooted in helping contractors solve real-world challenges, like how to protect their business in a high-cost economy. Beyond the product itself, Attic Breeze provides contractors with responsive support, education and a partner they can count on. Cody experiences this firsthand. “If we run into a problem, I can pick up my phone right now, hit dial, and I'm talking with John in 30 seconds,” he says.

It’s this reliability that makes the relationship between contractors and manufacturers so important.

For 20 years, Attic Breeze has helped contractors deliver more complete roofing solutions by focusing on one of the most important, but often overlooked, parts of roof performance. The result is better outcomes for homeowners and greater confidence for contractors.
