Wind uplift failures cost the roofing and construction industry millions every year—and most are preventable. This course provides a clear, practical understanding of wind loads, uplift forces and code requirements that directly affect roof performance. Participants will learn how wind speed, terrain exposure, building height and enclosure classification influence uplift pressures. We’ll break down FM Global and ASCE 7 requirements, explain why 3-second gusts are used, clarify common misconceptions (like uplift vs. wind speed) and show how improper attachment leads to roof blow-offs. Whether you’re a contractor, consultant, inspector or designer, this class will give you the confidence to understand wind calculations, communicate with engineers and recognize high-risk conditions before failures occur.
