Equipter’s drivable debris containers are available for rent and purchase across the United States.

In this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Karen Edwards spoke with Sam Beiler of Equipter and Phil Frid of Micro Rentals about how rental providers are spreading the word about the benefits and reach of the Equipter across the United States.

Phil expressed how many contractors first turn to renting an Equipter 4000 when facing a challenging jobsite. “It often starts as a last resort, when contractors run into a problem like a roof that’s too steep or limited access to a driveway in an HOA community,” Phil explained. “Once they use it, they see all the benefits that you can get close to the roof.”

From debris management to material delivery, the Equipter is a time and energy saver for contractors. “The roofing job is very physical, so this helps contractors do it with less effort and more efficiently,” Phil said. “It has the capacity to lift 4,000 pounds, so you can lift a pallet of shingles to a one-story house. Contractors cut half the time off clean-up and tear-offs because there’s no mess. They don’t have to throw debris on the floor. They eliminate double handle by throwing debris directly into the dumpster and driving it away.”

With the company based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Sam emphasized the broader impact that the rental model has had on the Equipter’s reach. “There are over 300 Equipter rental providers across the United States, and the local connection has been awesome to see,” Sam said. “For roofing companies that don’t have the budget to buy equipment, a rental is a great solution.”

With over 300 Equipter rental providers nationwide, Sam noted that local access through rental companies has fueled adoption. Furthermore, as labor challenges continue to shape the roofing landscape, rental partnerships provide flexible pathways to increased productivity.

Successful scaling requires streamlined operations that support both jobsite performance and long-term profitability.

Roofing companies looking to grow often discover that expansion requires more than pursuing bigger projects or entering new regions. Scaling a roofing operation successfully demands efficient systems, equipment and processes that can support higher volumes without sacrificing workmanship or profitability. From improving jobsite efficiency to strengthening workforce performance, contractors need reliable tools and strategic planning to keep projects on schedule. That’s why Equipter works to help roofers streamline their workflows and maintain quality as they expand their reach.

Invest in advanced, scalable equipment to drive productivity

Upgrading to innovative tools like the Equipter 4000 empowers crews to handle debris and cleanup with unparalleled speed and safety, often reducing jobsite cleanup times by up to 80%. Standardizing modern equipment across your job sites not only boosts efficiency but also minimizes training time and maintenance headaches, laying a strong foundation for consistent growth. These investments are a differentiator when bidding for larger projects — and signal professionalism to both clients and skilled employees.

Attract and retain top talent with the right tools

One of the most significant roadblocks to scaling a construction company is labor shortage. Recruiting and retaining experienced roofers becomes easier when you showcase a commitment to safety and well-being. Featuring advanced equipment in your recruitment efforts demonstrates you value workers’ time and health, setting your company apart in a competitive talent market and reducing costly turnover.

Diversify service offerings to expand your market share

Expanding your roofing business by adding services such as siding, masonry or solar installations transforms you into the go-to provider for customers seeking comprehensive solutions. Diversification not only creates multiple revenue streams but also increases customer loyalty — making your company less vulnerable to market fluctuations in any single segment.

Streamline multisite management with integrated software

As you grow into multiple locations or manage concurrent projects, manual oversight becomes impossible. Implementing project management and scheduling platforms like Procore or BuilderTrend centralizes real-time tracking, facilitates seamless communication and optimizes resource allocation. Modern dispatching solutions further optimize crew utilization by automating assignments, reducing drive time and preventing scheduling conflicts.

Leverage referrals and dynamic pricing to sustain profitable growth

Growth demands a steady pipeline of quality leads and profitability controls. An incentive-driven referral program transforms satisfied customers into your most effective ambassadors. Simultaneously, adopting dynamic pricing methodologies ensures your bids accurately reflect real-time costs, safeguarding your margins — even as your construction company takes on more complex, large-scale projects.

What to expect from this year’s international roofing expo.

The International Roofing Expo (IRE) is the premier and largest expo dedicated to the roofing industry. Whether you’re a contractor or industry professional, IRE is the place to be! With countless education sessions, networking events and booths on the trade show floor, IRE offers unmatched opportunities.

This year’s show begins on January 20, and we are already counting down the days! If you’re attending, make sure to stop by our booth to say hello to the Coffee Shops crew (booth can be found in the trade show lobby) as well as our industry friends, like Terial (booth #1665), A.C.T. Metal Deck Supply (booth #2131), Equipter (booth #4231), All Weather Insulated Panels (booth #1601) and Latinos En Roofing (booth #5461). For those still deciding whether or not to get a ticket, we sat down for an episode of Roofing Road Trips® with Brandi McElhaney, IRE show manager, and Rich Russo, IRE director, to learn why this year’s expo is a must-attend for any roofing professional!

One of the biggest changes coming this year is the addition of a new exhibitor program! Brandi explained, “We’re very excited about our new program, IRE First Look. It's a specialized exhibitor participation program for those new to the market. So, it helps businesses new to the roofing sector, showcase their solutions through efficient, cost-effective exhibits that, while smaller than traditional booths, create a great way to get your foot in the door.”

Additionally, this year’s show will feature an expansion of the exteriors offerings. Brandi shared, “We've doubled the size of our exteriors pavilion, which is dedicated to the exterior product categories and home improvement, windows, solar doors and siding. for 2026. We’re also partnering with SRS on a pro contractor pavilion education area that will showcase exterior products.” This dedication to building out the show’s exterior products sector comes as a response to past contractor feedback. Rick explained, “This is something that came out of one of our focus groups a couple of years ago when we asked the industry, ‘What are you looking for?’ We had some contractors come up to us and say, ‘Hey, we want to expand our roofing business, but we’re not sure how.’ So, we created the pro contractors pavilion as a space for those roofing contractors that want to expand their businesses to learn how to expand their businesses into new categories.”

And last but not least, the IRE team has worked to make their offerings even more accessible with Spanish language support! Not only do they have their Spanish education track, but they have incorporated a tool that can translate non-Spanish offerings for Spanish-speaking professionals. Brandi explained, “We’re using Wordly. It’s a program that you basically just scan a QR code when you walk into the room and the program translates English to Spanish or vice versa. We want everyone to get the most out of the show, and this is part of making that possible.”

Learn how rental partnerships make specialized roofing equipment more accessible to contractors.

The equipment rental market is reshaping how roofing contractors approach productivity, safety and operations investments. In a recent episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Karen Edwards spoke with Sam Beiler of Equipter and Phil Frid of Micro Rentals about how rental partnerships are expanding access to specialized roofing equipment.

Sam Beiler, who leads sales and marketing at Equipter, explained that the company’s roots came from identifying contractors’ frequent frustration. “My dad had a roofing company. He was looking for a better way of doing roofing, and the roofing tear-off process was the most painful part of his day,” Sam shared. That challenge led to the creation of products like the Equipter 4000, a self-propelled roofing trailer designed to streamline tear-offs and material handling.

While Equipter originally focused on selling equipment directly, contractor demand helped shape a new path. “More and more contractors were like, ‘Hey, in my business model, I don’t really buy equipment. I rent equipment,’” Sam retold. Rather than building its own rental operation, Equipter partnered with local rental companies to meet that need.

One of those partners is Micro Rentals, an equipment rental company serving Southern California. Owner Phil Frid said he discovered the Equipter while searching for tools that would differentiate his business. “I found the Equipter, and I thought it was the greatest tool ever for roofing contractors,” Phil said. “Contractors love it. It’s the main machine for our business.”

Phil emphasized that rentals are inherently local, making partnerships essential. “You can’t run a rental business from Pennsylvania and rent in California,” Phil explained.

“It’s been an amazing kind of micro-economy,” Sam added. “Phil has the local relationship with contractors, and in providing the Equipter solution through rentals, it quickly snowballs.” In Southern California alone, Phil estimates there are roughly 3,500 licensed roofing contractors, many of whom are still learning about the Equipter.

Both guests noted that renting often becomes the gateway to ownership. “There's always the contractors that are going to buy equipment, and there are always contractors that are going to rent equipment for their convenience. We can help them analyze that,” Phil stated. “You can tell them ‘Try it first before you buy it.’ Once they use it, it becomes a necessity, not the last resort.”

Investing in debris management equipment shows clients that your company values safety, property protection and professionalism.

Maintaining a clean, organized job site does more than just keep property safe — it strengthens your company’s brand and helps secure future projects. Using modern technology like the Equipter 4000 reinforces your commitment to cleanliness, professionalism and safety. This equipment, designed to manage roofing debris efficiently, protects landscaping, vehicles and surrounding areas from damage. Over time, consistent attention to site management elevates your brand reputation, positioning your business to earn more bids and grow word-of-mouth referrals.

Modern debris management: Setting the new standard for cleanup

Clients notice when advanced tools are used on the job. The Equipter 4000, manufactured in the United States for the last two decades, is a piece of equipment made by roofers for roofers. The Equipter can be towed to a work site, driven under its own power to where it will best be used, then the operator can lift its 4.1 cubic yard container up 12 feet to capture trash and debris as it comes off of roofs. This method of capturing debris before it hits the ground limits costly damage to commercial properties and helps to ensure that nails and other dangerous materials don’t land in high traffic areas. Once the Equipter’s container is full, it can dump its contents into a stationary dumpster, allowing for greater flexibility in how and where trash from their active job site is collected.

Reputation is the sales multiplier

Job site cleanup is one of the levers for growth that is in your grasp. Maintaining clean job sites that don’t interfere with business beneath commercial roofs can become a testament to your professionalism which will directly impact your reputation and online reviews. Property managers have an expectation for site cleanliness and worker safety. Demonstrating a reliable cleanup process will impress decision makers and help place your company in the running for other bids. To learn more about how the Equipter 4000 can help take your product offering to the next level, contact an account representative.

            class=''

Contractors who invest in high-quality roofing equipment ensure safer jobs and higher customer satisfaction.

Choosing budget tools may seem like a smart and economic decision, but cheap roofing equipment often leads to more serious and expensive problems in the future. From safety risks to high replacement costs, using subpar tools can damage your work and your reputation. At Equipter, we are dedicated to providing contractors with high-quality equipment that makes projects safer and smoother.

Frequent repairs and unexpected downtime

Low-cost equipment usually means low durability. Cheap tools fail more frequently, leading to unexpected breakdowns in the middle of a job. Replacing cracked shingles or fixing jammed nailers causes not only direct costs in repairs but also costly delays. According to industry experts, project downtime from equipment failure can outpace any savings and add up to major losses throughout the season.

Compromised job site safety

Cheap tools aren’t just unreliable, they can put your crew in danger. Worn-out hoists, unreliable ladders and poor-quality nail guns boost the risk of on-site accidents, exposing you to potential workers’ compensation claims and unneeded downtime. These delays can add up. Hours turn into days which means delaying other projects and, ultimately, not being able to commit to new ones. Investing in well-maintained, high-quality equipment directly supports crew safety.

Invalidated warranties and insurance denials

Cheap equipment can lead to poor installation practices, voiding manufacturer warranties and causing insurance claim rejections. This leaves contractors and property owners battling costly repairs without coverage, undermining client trust and long-term profitability. On top of that, low quality work means diminished curb appeal and a drop in property value, making it harder for clients to recover their investment.

The roofing equipment that truly delivers

From coast-to-coast, roofing contractors rely on the Equipter 4000 to deliver roofs that wow homeowners and lead to positive online reviews. The Equipter lifts its container to the roofline to collect shingles and nails before they have a chance to hit a homeowner’s property. This piece of equipment, designed for roofers by roofers and built in the United States, has a reputation for its build quality with units still working in the field long after they have paid for themselves. The initial investment in the Equipter 4000 is immediately offset by cleaner, more professional work and the ability to take on larger projects.

Don’t let cheap cost you more

For roofing professionals, equipment reliability and project quality aren’t luxuries, they are necessities. The Equipter 4000 helps elevate your roofing company’s standards so that you can compete in your market. To learn more about how the Equipter can help your company grow and sustain long-term profitability, talk to your account representative or call 717-661-3591.

In today’s labor shortage, it’s important now more than ever to retain quality crew members and a positive reputation among your community. One key way to do so is by investing in the right equipment that helps crews feel safe, valued and energized to contribute to your team. In this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, David Beiler of Equipter spoke with Heidi J. Ellsworth about how investing in their debris-lifting equipment not only makes jobs run more efficiently but also instills stronger morale in your overall operation.

“We all know roofing is messy. It's hard work. So, how can we integrate the right equipment to take care of our crews?” David offered. “There's an average of 7,000 to 10,000 pounds of debris on the average-sized residential roof. If you don't need two guys to move 10,000 pounds of debris, that's a win-win for everyone. They're more efficient at the end of the day, and they're not as worn out. They can get up the next morning and do the same thing a lot more easily.”

The Equipter 4000, one of Equipter’s most popular products, is a drivable debris container capable of lifting 4,000 pounds 12 feet high. While some business owners may be hesitant to invest in equipment for crews made up of subcontractors, David offered a thoughtful perspective. “Some people might think, ‘Well, he's a subcontractor. I don't really care how he does it.’ Actually, we should care a little bit more,” he expressed. “I know that's part of the challenge: how do I implement equipment when I'm selling, marketing and I have a subcontractor completing the work? It can be done, and it pays off.”

Based on customer experiences, utilizing an Equipter can make crews 25% more efficient. This saves time and labor costs, allowing an energized crew to take on more jobs and bring in more revenue. Furthermore, utilizing an Equipter shows homeowners that you care about delivering the highest-quality service. “Setting an expectation for the homeowner that, hey, we have the right equipment, we have the right technology to do this well, to protect your landscape — that alone can be a huge win for your company,” David said. “Equipter makes jobs attractive and efficient.”

So, if you’re looking for ways to stay competitive in a crowded market and labor shortage, investing in an Equipter may be the ticket. “People know when you care. It shows when you care. So, showing up with the right equipment — it does matter.”

Job site debris management has become a critical factor in how homeowners choose and recommend roofing professionals.

In today’s roofing industry, clean job sites are no longer just a “nice to have” — they’re essential to customer satisfaction and long-term business sustainability. Here at Equipter, we know that for homeowners, the impression a contractor leaves behind is just as important as the quality of the roof itself. That’s why forward-thinking roofing companies are turning to advanced debris management tools like the Equipter 4000. By keeping properties cleaner throughout the project, contractors protect landscaping, reduce cleanup time and create a five-star experience that turns satisfied customers into loyal advocates.

Referrals: Leveraging client satisfaction into closed contracts

For many contractors around the country, the Equipter 4000 dramatically changes their referral pipeline. The Equipter’s ability to capture shingles and nails at the roofline, before they hit the ground, sends a powerful message to clients: this company respects your home. With the Equipter, contractors not only close more sales, they increase 5-star reviews and bolster their company’s reputation for quality work in their community. Prioritizing cleanliness builds trust and creates vocal advocates for your brand.

Why cleanliness is the ultimate marketing advantage

First impressions are always important, but so are last impressions. When your roofing company leaves a job site without a trace of being there, it leaves a long lasting impression on the homeowner. Studies show that 70% of roofing customers are more likely to recommend companies who provide an outstanding experience. In a digital marketplace, homeowners trust aggregate online reviews as much as personal recommendations. Spotless work and high attention to detail translates directly into positive reviews and public praise. Professional equipment also differentiates your brand from other companies in a crowded marketplace. Modern equipment can help set your company apart.

Converting referrals into sales

Investing in smart debris management solutions like the Equipter 4000 is the first step into giving your crew the ability to prevent damage and demonstrate professionalism on every job. The Equipter’s elevated container safeguards flowerbeds, bushes and patios while its wide tires make the machine turf friendly, gliding over lawns without leaving ruts.

Don’t assume clients know how the Equipter will benefit them: walk them through what your company does to prioritize job site cleanliness during the sales process. Highlighting these features are an incredible sales tool to help close contracts. Branding is a key element of the Equipter roofing process. When the Equipter 4000 is elevated, it’s impossible to miss. When neighbors look up, make sure that they see your branding and contact information. By wrapping your Equipter, you have a mobile billboard on every job site. Ask your account representative about our wrap package where a wrap is applied by our team and your Equipter 4000 will show up ready to impress.

Stronger reputation and better referrals

Superior job site cleanup is a measurable differentiator in a competitive market. Modern debris management not only improves customer satisfaction, it also leads to glowing reviews and personal referrals. Proving that your company can consistently deliver a cleaner job is one of the best pieces of marketing you can do.
